Audition Information & Material

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Audition Information

Black Dirt Theater’s production of Matilda has a wide range of opportunities for all ages. 

Age groups will be divided into Kids (8-16), Teens & Young Adults (ages 16-30), and Adults (ages 30+). 

Rehearsal commitments vary depending on show role, with leads rehearsing 4-5 days a week, ensemble roles & core dancers rehearsing 3-4 days a week, and chorus members rehearsing 2-3 days a week as we learn the show up until we get closer to tech week and performances. Time commitments will increase as we get closer to performances and start running the show. We do our best to make all schedules work within the rehearsal schedule and be flexible with our cast members.

Auditions will be held at Hastings High School, 200 General Sieben Drive, Hastings, Mn 55033 and 

Hastings Middle School, 1000 11th St. W, Hastings, MN 55033

**Enter HHS through the lower/student entrance and HMS through the auditorium doors by the student drop-off (not Hwy. 55 entrance)**

Monday, May 18: 6-9pm @ Hastings Middle School

Tuesday, May 19: 6-9pm @ Hastings High School

Wednesday, May 20: 6-9pm @ Hastings Middle School

Friday, May 22: 6-9pm (Callbacks only, if needed) @ Hastings High School

Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time, prepare your audition material (based on desired role), and complete the audition form before you arrive!
