2017-2018 Season

The 2017-2018 Ticket Holding

This season, Black Dirt Theater is happy to announce a new ticket-purchasing option for patrons. Rather than offering "Season Ticket Holder" opportunities as we have in the past, we  will instead have a "Ticket Holder" option. You may be wondering what the difference is between these two things. The difference is that as a Season Ticket Holder patrons had to purchase tickets for the entire season as a block, and now instead you can purchase tickets to at least two of our season's shows and you will get 15% off during the run of Mary Poppins, and 10% off through Much Ado About Nothing, (our first show of the season.)

So, for example, if you want to see Much Ado About Nothing and Shrek, but you are out of town during Greater Tuna, that is just fine! You still get the discount on your tickets if you purchase tickets for Much Ado About Nothing and Shrek right now for any number of people! This allows you to put the date in your calendar, and save some money.

If you are interested in doing this here is what you need to do:

  1. Choose which shows you are going to go to, yes you need to know the dates too. (However, if you need to change the dates down the road you can just give us a call.)
  2. Find a second show to go to, or even a third.
  3. If you can go to two or more shows this year then click the button below that says "Purchase Package" to purchase your tickets a a package. If you can only go to one of the three shows then you can click on the ticket button for that show to get single show tickets.
  4. Add the shows you want to your cart, and the discount will be automatically applied.
  5. Add the show to your calendar and invite your friends and family to join you!
  6. Come to the show!

Much Ado About Nothing

This Shakespeare comedy, "Much Ado About Nothing" is about two couples who's love stories are intertwined from the very beginning of the play. One story follows the formal, romantic relationship between two people. In order for these two people to wind up together it will take the involvement of their friends in the proposal. The second, follows the story of a more sarcastic couple who pretends that they do not want anything to do with one another for the majority of the show. They even go to the extent of saying that they never want to be married, until their friends help them to realize that they secretly have a love for each other. In the end, will this wind up as a traditional Shakespeare show with love and death, or just love?

This show is $18 a person, with no added taxes or fees at check out.

Greater Tuna

Greater Tuna is a comedy about a small town in Texas named Tuna, Texas' third smallest town. The wacky inhabitants of this town -- men, women, children and animals -- are all played by two skillful, transformative actors who must change parts at a rather breakneck speed. They use inventive voice work as they are the radio show hosts of the town. This show will be performed as a dinner theater-style show at The Onion Grille in Hastings. Dinner will begin an hour and a half prior to the show.

This show is $47 with no added taxes and fees for Friday and Saturday dinner shows, and $30 with no added taxes and fees for Sunday lunch shows.

We do have a handicap accessible option for the show on January 28th @ 2:00 pm. Please call 651-300-9567 to reserve your tickets.

Shrek the Musical

Set in a mythical, fairy-tale land, Shrek the Musical is a story about a hulking green ogre who retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation after a lifetime of mockery. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? Bring your family to this engaging musical next summer to see how the story ends for Shrek!
