Zach is a part of Black Dirt Improv. He has ben a part of several different Black Dirt Shows over the year, but to him, Improv is truly magical. He does not have a favorite character, because to him any character is important. His favorite show is Into the Woods, and his favorite color is teal.

Leah King

Leah is a part of Black Dirt Improv. This is her third year with us, and she loves it because it allows her to bring laughter to others. She also has the chance to work with great people while she sharpens her own acting and improv skills. Her favorite show she has ever seen was when she was able to sit front row at “Fiddler on the Roof” at Broadway Theater in New York. Her favorite character is Gimli from “The Lord of the Rings”, because he is funny, fearless, and working. Gimli, like her is a short warrior. Leah likes the color green, and thinks that it represents her because it can be associated with freshness, new chances, calm, positive, and spring, which is her favorite season. Outside of dabbling in the arts, she is a part she works for a clinic and as an adjunct faculty instructor at a local college. Leah has meet several wonderful people throughout her experience with Black Dirt Theater through her acting roles in Bedroom Farce and several summer musicals.

Andie Moore-

Andie is excited to be a part of Black Dirt Improv because she enjoys being able to give the gift of laughter to an audience. Andie the proud wife of Ryan and the proud mom of 3 little kiddos. Her kids inspire her imagination, fuel her humor, and all around make her a better person. She says that her favorite color is red, which are the color of lobsters, and she like those! It is a dream of Andie’s to play the character of Maria in Sound of music, or Anna from the King and I. We are excited to have Andie on the team.

Calvin Jackson

Calvin choose to be a part of Black Dirt Improv because he loves improv with a passion! In the past he has always done improv in Minneapolis, and was ready to try something new. Calvin, like the color red, representing fire, is driven to excel in improv and as a person. Calvin’s favorite character is Robin Williams in the movie Patch Adams, because Williams does such a great job relating to his patients. Oh, and Williams wears Converse shoes, which is a plus for Calvin. For Calvin, choosing to be a part of Black Dirt Theater is one of the most exciting things he has ever been able to do. For calvin, the troupe is so great, funny, down to earth, and willing to help each other out!

Sam Aanestad-

Sam is a part of Black Dirt Improv. Sam is excited that he has the chance to be a part of Black Dirt Improv with one of his friends, Calvin. Sam’s favorite live theater show that they have seen is Wicked. His favorite character is Rudy. His character is inspirational because he lives his dream playing for Notre Dame football team mainly from his undeniable persistency and determination. Samm is sunny and bright, just like the color green. Like Rudy, Sam hopes to live life with determination, persistence, and by living their dreams. This is Sam’s first season with Black Dirt Theater, and we are excited for another great addition.

Andrew Gonzalez

Andrew is a part of the Black Dirt Improv team and he loves the action of the fast paced, creative roles with Improv.

Lacey Boston

Lacey is a part of Black Dirt Improv. She loves laughter, fun, and thinking on her feet, especially in efforts to take care of herself as a new mom! Her favorite local live theater show is when Hastings High School did “South Pacific”. Another show that she really appreciates is “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, she likes it so much that she has seen it four times, live. Her favorite colors are green and blue. Blue is similar to her in that it is calm like the water and the sky. She loves Greg Kinnear’s character, Bradley Smith, from “Feast of Love”. Lacey is finding improv to be a great experience to share laughter.

Logan Martin

Logan is the Director of, and actor of, Black Dirt Improv. He loves sharing the joy and beauty of improv with crowds of Hastings residents who just need a laugh! It is also an extra joy for him to be able to help with teaching improv to a new cast that has never done it before, as he sincerely enjoys watching the awe and wonder in someone's eyes as they do a brilliant improv scene! Logan’s favorite live theater show was “Phantom of the Opera” from London’s West End, at the theater it has been continuously running at for 30 years. His favorite character is Kevin, from Home Alone because he goes through a lovely arc, from hating his family to discovering that he desperately needs them. His hero's tale of succeeding over the Wet Bandits against all odds is also a really cool story of being able to do anything you put your mind on! Logan loves being a part of Black Dirt Theater because of the impact that Black Dirt has has on the community of Hastings and the surrounding region. Logan is honored to play a role in continuing that impact. We are happy to have Logan helping us spread the joy and impact in Hastings!

Shelley Kurzeka-Jung

This is Shelley’s first year being a part of Black Dirt Improv, and she is excited for the chance to possibly have more years to come. She was inspired by her friend to audition for Improv, and is excited to give it a chance! Her favorite show, was performed at the Children’s Theater, and she saw it with her family, it was “A Year With Frog and Toad.” She thinks that red is a good color to describe her because it is bright and boisterous. Shelley is liking her experience and hoping to join us for more to come!

Joren is a part of Black Dirt Improv. He choose to be a part of it because it allows him to release some of his creativity in a way that he loves: which is giving people joy and laughter. His favorite live show he has ever seen is “Book of Mormon”. Joren says that he likes the color yellow, and thinks that it is similar to him in that it is bright, warm, the same color as honey. Like honey, Joren says that he is sweet and good with tea. Kvothe, from the book “Name of the WInd” is Joren’s favorite character becauses he is real, flawed, nuanced, passionate, adventurous, and theatrically-inclined. Since Joren has been a part of Black Dirt Improv he has noticed that the number of people who thinks he is crazy has increased while he does his improv warm-ups in his car… with the windows down… during the winter!

Not Pictured: Erika Sasseville

Erika wanted to be a part of the Improv Troupe because she has always loved improv. In college, she was a part of an improv troupe, so she wanted to be a part of this group right here in Hastings. Her favorite live theater she has ever seen was just recently, she saw the national tour of Cabaret when it was here and the show knocked her socks off! The Cabaret impressed her in so many aspects, but she was especially amazed by the lighting design. Erika is full of passion and peace, and thinks that her favorite color Purple describes this. This is her first experience with Black Dirt Theater, and she could not be more excited!
